Product Description
Optimal Water Temperature
Adjust Grind Size: If the grind is too fine (like powder), the water takes too long to pass through, leading to bitterness. Switching to a coarser grind creates more space for water to flow at the correct speed.
Control Brew Time: The longer water sits on the coffee, the more bitter it becomes. For a French Press, try plunging at 4 minutes exactly; for a pour-over, aim for a total draw-down time of 2.5 to 3 minutes.
Check Your Ratio: Using too much water for the amount of coffee can actually increase bitterness (over-extraction). Follow the "Golden Ratio" of 1:15 or 1:17 (1 part coffee to 15â17 parts water).
Roast Level Awareness: Darker roasts naturally contain more bitter, smoky compounds. If you prefer a smoother, sweeter cup, try switching to a Medium or Light roast.
The Salt Trick: A tiny, microscopic pinch of salt added to your brewed cup can chemically neutralize bitter receptors on your tongue, making the coffee taste smoother and sweeter instantly.
Equipment Hygiene: Old coffee oils and residues turn rancid and add a "burnt" bitterness to fresh brews. Regularly descale your machine and deep-clean your filters or French press mesh.
